Mary Nkata of SST wins the YSMA Photography Contest & Exhibition


The finale of the YSMA photography contest took place on Saturday the 19th of June during an exhibition at the foyer of the School of Science and Technology building. The top 20 works selected by the judges were put up on display for guests to view and purchase. The the top three contestants and the winner of the audience choice award decided via Instagram likes were presented with their prizes by Mr and Mrs Ibikunle Dashur. In first place was Mary Nkata with her work “Woman’s Time”. Second place went to Oritsemisan Atigbi with her work “Hands Unseen”  while the third placed contestant was Kelechi Onyeajuwa with his work “Chiezugo”. The winner of the audience choice award was Destiny Obim-Anesodo’s with his work “Night-Life”. The winning contestants also received souvenirs such as custom t-shirts and mugs. 

Following the exhibition, 6 photographs have been purchased. They are “Tiny Strangers” by Oluwayomi Vigo, “Maiden in a spotless garment” by Anthonio Maduadiche, “Chiezugo” by Kelechi Onyeajuwa, “Colors” by Unachukwu Prince, “Missing you” by Obiora Ugwuogbe and “Student centre” by Olamide Awogbade. Boluwatife Akindele’s works “Covid Complaint” and “Library Study” were donated to the school’s library.
