SST Basic Science Unit (BSU) launched an exhibition of some cosmetics and personal care products that were synthesized by 100-level Mechanical and Electrical/Electronic Engineering students in the laboratory.
The students gave a presentation on their companies, synthesis, and products. The products exhibition followed immediately at the SST Foyer.
The Engineering Students successfully synthesized 16 household and personal care products using their basic Chemistry knowledge. The products are Vaseline, Hair Cream, Scented Candle, Antiseptic (Dettol), Germicide (IZAL), Perfume, Body Spray, Hand Sanitizer, Hand Wash, Solid Balm (Robb), Sports Balm (liquid spray), Powdered Detergent, Bleach, Pot Wash (Vim), Glass Cleaner (Windolin) and Air Freshener.
Intriguingly, the students have a good knowledge of the science behind their synthesis. There had also been good testimonies from some of the facility staff who had used some of their products for cleaning.
