Dr Benjamin Anyaegbuna obtained his first degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, in 1990. He holds a Master of Engineering (M.Eng) and Ph.D. degrees in Mechanical Engineering, with a focus in thermo-fluids, both from the University of Ilorin, Nigeria. He also holds a postgraduate diploma in Education and Master of Education in Science and Technology Education (Physics) from the University of Lagos, Akoka, in 2007 and 2012 respectively.
Benjamin is a mechanical engineer with a broad cross-disciplinary interests and experience that cuts across engineering consultancy, construction, power plant engineering, project management, energy, and academics. Prior to joining the university, he has been involved in the successful managing and delivery of various complex, multiphase, and high-end engineering projects for the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Elf Petroleum (Total Nigeria), and other clients in Nigeria. He is a certified project manager with the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute, USA since 2014. He was part of the engineering consulting team (mechanical services) for The Ark Legacy Project, Canaanland, Ota, a 100000-capacity auditorium project that upon completion will be the largest covered auditorium in the world.
He consults in Mechanical, HVAC systems, Plumbing and Project management services, and combines this role as a lecturer/researcher with published peer reviewed papers in reputable local and international journals. His research areas include indoor air quality, heat transfer, renewable energy and sustainable buildings. He teaches engineering project management, technical writing and communication, Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Thermodynamics. He also facilitates training programmes on AutoCAD, Fusion 360, AutoCAD MEP, and related CAD skills courses at the University’s Autodesk Training Center.
He is a fellow of both the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) and the Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers (NIMechE); and a registered engineer with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN). He is active within the engineering community and has served in various capacities with the NSE, Ikeja Branch and NIMechE, Lagos Chapter. At the national level of the NSE and NIMechE, he has served as member, Certificate Verification Committee, and currently member, Professional Development Committee, NIMechE.
