SST proudly hosted SST Makerspace 2.0, an electrifying and thought-provoking showcase themed “Revolutionizing the Narrative – Empowering Africa’s Builders for a Hardware-Inclusive Future.”
This year’s edition was more than a competition. From the vibrant hum of 3D printers to the sight of bots executing complex tasks with precision, the atmosphere pulsed with creativity and purpose. Students from across disciplines came together to push boundaries, demonstrate groundbreaking prototypes, and spark conversations about Africa’s place in the global hardware revolution. But amid the excitement, one bold question anchored the event:
Why is hardware innovation still lagging in Africa?
The SST Makerspace 2.0 is not only a platform to showcase student talent and technical ingenuity, it is a call to action. A call to challenge the status quo, to invest in infrastructure, and to foster an ecosystem where African innovators can build, test, and scale transformative technologies.
